How to bet on a UFC Fight

Betting on UFC fights is much easier than the 'moneylines' first show. Let's start by a quick rundown of terms:

MoneyLine, Betting Odds, Betting Lines - The moneyline is the odds on that particular fight and serves to 'even out' the payouts the casino makes for any given fight.


Example: In the UFC event, UFC 128: Maricio Rua vs John Jones, Here was the moneyline on one of the main event - Maricio 'Shogun' Rua vs. John 'Bones' Jones:

The Math:

FAVORITE BET: Since John Jones is ( -185 ) in this fight, he is the favorite. For every $1.85 you bet, you will win $1.00. By betting $185 on John 'Bones' Jones to win this fight, you would have lost :) However, IF Maricio Rua had won the fight - you would have won: $100.
MATH: Your Winnings = $185 (your bet) / $1.85 = $100

UNDERDOG BET: Since Maricio 'Shogun' Rua is ( +175 ) in this fight, he is the underdog. It means for every $1 you bet, you will win $1.75! By betting $100 on Shogun to win this fight - you would have won $175.
MATH: Your Winnings = $100 (your bet) * $1.75 = $175



Changing Odds (Moneylines):

Moneylines, Betting Odds, Betting Lines change frequently as more betters place bets on the UFC fight. Moneylines are always being adjusted and it is solely based upon the amount of bets coming in for each fighter. When you place your bet - the odds at that time are the odds you will receive, so bet wisely!
