How to bet on a UFC Fight

Betting on UFC fights is much easier than the 'moneylines' first show. Let's start by a quick rundown of terms:

MoneyLine, Betting Odds, Betting Lines - The moneyline is the odds on that particular fight and serves to 'even out' the payouts the casino makes for any given fight.


Example: In a recent UFC event, UFC 78 Validation, Here was the moneyline on one of the most exciting fights of the night - Houston Alexander vs. Thiago Silva:

Thiago Silva won this fight.... So,

The Math:

FAVORITE BET: Since Alexander is ( -160 ) in this fight, he is the favorite. For every $1.60 you bet, you will win $1.00. By betting $160 on Houston Alexander to win this fight, you would have lost :) However, IF Alexander had won the fight - you would have won: $100.
MATH: Your Winnings = $160 (your bet) / $1.60 = $100

UNDERDOG BET: Since Silva is ( +130 ) in this fight, he is the underdog. It means for every $1 you bet, you will win $1.30! By betting $100 on Thiago Silva to win this fight - you would have won $130.
MATH: Your Winnings = $100 (your bet) * $1.30 = $130



Changing Odds (Moneylines):

Moneylines, Betting Odds, Betting Lines change frequently as more betters place bets on the UFC fight. Moneylines are always being adjusted and it is solely based upon the amount of bets coming in for each fighter. When you place your bet - the odds at that time are the odds you will receive, so bet wisely!
