Fight Analysis: This is an interesting matchup. Stevenson is definitely the more well-rounded fighter here, but Danzig is no slouch either. In the past I would have said that Stevenson’s striking is little to worry about. However – his more recent fights have proven that his skills standing have become much more crisp. Danzig is still the better striker, but on the ground Stevenson should be able to control this fight fairly easily. I see Mac doing well in the first round and even, possibly winning the round. However, I see round 2 and 3 going the way of Stevenson and with a fairly worn out Danzig, Stevenson will choke him out in the 3rd.

Joe Stevenson is masterful on the ground and has adequate standup. Gleison Tibau is a large fighter with good standup and excellent BJJ and ground game.

FIGHT ANALYSIS: We believe that Tibau will try to keep Stevenson at bay with his reach advantage while finding a way to get the takedown. However, Stevenson will rush Tibau and get the first takedown in this one. Stevenson is a powerful fighter and, we believe, will be on top most of the fight. On to the next UFC Event! We certainly have to put that last one behind us as we bet on both Matt Hughes to upset GSP as well as Sokoudjou to defeat Machida. Of course, neither happened, so our outcome was not as favorable as we hoped. 50/50 is ok and wasn’t a loss, but we certainly like to do better.

Anyway! UFC 80 is on the horizon and the Main Event is certainly an interesting event with BJ Penn going up against Joe Stevenson. BJ is not necessarily a sure-shot to win this one… I would not count Joe ‘Daddy’ out just yet. He did beat Guillard, right?
