Frank Mir vs Mirko Cro Cop – UFC 119 Prediction

Frank

Fight Analysis: This is one of the easier battles to predict, IMO. While Mirko has the talent to lay a mighty kick on Frank, Mir has a hell of a chin and excellent stand up skills. I see Mir feeling out Cro Cop in the early minute of the match and then letting his hands go more and more as the round progresses. Mir’s stand up is crisp and looking better each fight that he has. He will hit Mirko with a combination, knocking him down to the canvas. Mir will swarm quickly and a submission will be VERY quick to follow.

Prediction: Mir by Submission

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs Ryan Bader – UFC 119 Prediction

Antonio

Fight Analysis: This is an interesting matchup that could really go either way. Nogueira has a slightly better standup and good submissions while Bader has strong wrestling, which Nog has had some recent issues with. If Bader stands up for too long, Nogueira will eventually win out in this fight. However – If Bader can take Nogueira down AND keep the submissions from ending the fight, he will easily be the victor. I believe that Bader will indeed take Nogueira down at will and stay away from submissions. Bader won’t finish him, but will edge out the decision based upon the number of takedowns along with the dominance on the ground.

Prediction: Bader by decision

Matt Serra vs Chris Lytle – UFC 119 Prediction

Matt

Fight Analysis: This may well be the fight of the night. Matt Serra and Chris Lytle both have excellent submissions and both love to stand and trade punches. Serra is possibly (although not surely) the better submission guy, but it is so close that I do not see submission as the way to win this battle. Lytle has never been knocked out but has certainly been rocked a few times. Serra has tons of power in his hands but has to get close with the short reach and tends to let his hands go with recklessness. Lytle has power as well, but probably not enough to knock out Serra. This is a very tough pick, but I believe Serra will rock Lytle enough times to edge out a decision.

Prediction: Serra by decision.

Sean Sherk vs Evan Dunham – UFC 119 Prediction

Sean

Fight Analysis: Evan Dunham is an up and comer with excellent skills in nearly every facet of MMA. He is a good Brazillian jiu-jitsu fighter with good submissions, has a good stand up game, and is a decent wrestler. Sean Sherk is a high-speed machine with excellent standup and awesome ground and pound. This fight will be fast-paced from the start. Sherk will come with everything he’s got and overwhelm Dunham from the start. Sherk’s wrestling ability will see Dunham on his back and unable to shake him off. Evan had trouble with lesser wrestlers than Sherk, so I do not see him able to counter what Sherk has. While Sherk will not finish him, he will outfight him and take the decision easily.

Prediction: Sherk by decision.

Melvin Guillard vs Jeremy Stephens – UFC 119 Prediction

Category: UFC 119 — Tags: , ,
September 18, 2010 - 7:23 am

Melvin

Fight Analysis: Melvin Guillard is likely the quickest, most explosive fighter in the whole UFC. With that said, he has made continual mistakes in his past UFC fights allowing himself losses he should not have had. Since moving training camps, Guillard has become a more exceptional fighter with less ‘holes’ in his game. Stephens is a rising star and, with recent wins over Bucholtz (knockout) and a stand up war with Sam Stout, has shown himself to be a very solid fighter. This fight is going to be fast and furious with Guillard’s explosive style starting at second 1. Stephens is a good fighter, but Guillard’s quickness will take him over. He has yet to see a fighter with this sort of power and speed.

Prediction: Guillard by TKO

UFC 119 – Predictions and Analysis coming soon…..

Category: UFC 119 — Tags: ,

We are currently in the process of analyzing and researching our picks. We don’t take this lightly since we bet on each pick we post here. We have a good track record and don’t want to mess it up!

UFC 119 – Frank Mir vs. Mirko Cro Cop
The fights on this card are definitely interesting and we expect to see a lot of battles being fought in September. Unlike some of the past few cards, this one (in our opinion) will have some light-em-up fights. Get ready for some brawls and (quite possibly) for some crazy upsets.
