These are our well-researched picks for UFC 82! We take a lot of time with our picks even though we have been watching the UFC since its foray into the world of PPV. Make sure you check out the latest betting lines on our UFC 82 Picks and Lines page.

Anderson Silva versus Dan Henderson

The big fight of the night! Dan ‘Hollywood’ Henderson versus Anderson ‘The Spyder’ Silva! While Sylva is an extremely well-rounded fighter and has accurate hands with excellent standup, we feel that Dan Henderson has one hell of a chin and a much better ground game. I see Silva putting Hendo in the clinch and being taken to the matt. On the floor, he has no chance against Henderson who is a powerful wrestler with excellent submission skills.

Sylva does have a chance in this fight and I think taking Hendo to a decision is his only chance. However - this is not going to happen. Our Final Pick: HENDERSON BY SUBMISSION.

Heath Herring versus Cheick Kongo

Kongo is an accurate striker, a solid kickboxer, and an excitingly aggressive fighter. He has come off of a recent win against the great Mirko Cro Cop in September and puts on a great show for the fans. Herring is a ground and pound expert with incredible takedown and submission skills.

This was a very interesting fight to call. Their styles are so completely different, it makes it tough on the pick. However, Kongo has a very limited take down defense and Herring is a take down expert. I don’t think Kongo will catch Herring with that knockout punch before Herring puts him on his back. And that is where the fight will end. Our Final Pick: HERRING BY SUBMISSION.

Alessio Sakara versus Chris Leben

Sakara is a good striker, being a former boxer, and likes to keep fights standing. He is more accurate than 90% of the fighters out there. Leben is all heart and heavy hands. He is mostly striking as well, but has a bit more on the submission side than Sakara.

Here is a fight that looks to be a thriller for the fans. This will be a ‘trading blows’ type of fight. We know Leben has one hell of a chin, but can he take Sakara’s punches? Absolutely. He has been hit by harder and fought through it. He will take a few and give that devastating blow that puts Sakara on his ass. Our Final Pick: LEBEN BY TKO.

Yushin Okami versus Evan Tanner

Okami loves the ground and pound and has a lot of strength. He has, additionally, been working on his hands recently. Tanner is powerful on the ground, but also has a great stand up game.

This one is tough. Mainly because we haven’t seen a fight out of Tanner for a year! It’s difficult to assess his physical conditioning, so we have to rely on past fights and his tremendous heart. Okami is tough on the ground, but then again - so is Tanner. Tanner has much better standup, though, and with his submission ability…. Our Final Pick: TANNER BY SUBMISSION.

Jake O'Brien versus Andrei Arlovski

Jake O’Brien is a powerful man with excellent wrestling skills who looks to be coming up the ladder quickly. He has excellent takedown skills and loves the ground and pound. Arlovski has excellent hands and a decent ground defense. He is an aggressive fighter with knockout power

This is another tough call. We all want to see the ‘Pit Bull’ take over this fight, but Jake O’Brien is a big man and will look to take this fight to the ground where he will clearly dominate. HOWEVER - Arlovski needs a win here and will keep the fight standing where his hands and quickness are too dominant for O’Brien. Our Final Pick: ARLOVSKI BY TKO.

That’s it for our UFC 82 Predictions! There are other great fights and we considered betting on them, but just didn’t have the confidence to do so. These fights we have confidence in! Good luck betting!

oooohhhh. There are a bunch more fights to worry about than just those 2!!!! Where are the other predictions?

From above, Silva will whooooop Henderson. He is just too quick and agile for Henderson in my opinion. Same goes for Kongo. Too quick for Herring. Herring won’t be able to get close enough to take Kongo down before Kongo lays him out.

Get the rest of those picks in.

Good Picks! Nearly same thoughts here except Silva will KO Henderson. Herring will definitely take down Kongo (yep, even tho he’s fast), Leben has too much heart for Sakara and will take anything Alessio can give, and Tanner is going to prove he is back and in shape. I’m Out!

Not sure I agree with the Silva pick. UFCFan has it right - Silva is going to destroy Henderson. No doubt about it. I also think Kongo is going to KO Herring despite what people think. Sakara is going to take out Leben as well. Okami will beat on Tanner and Obrien will beat Arlovski.

So I don’t agree with any of your picks. But I am in the minority on ALL of my picks also from what I see. Most are going with something a bit closer to what you have predicted. Let’s see who’s right tonight.

The 2 I was most afraid of came back to haunt me on my bets :( Silva - I knew there was a chance he would win this one and he did so rather impressively! I would still love to see another fight between these 2 as Hendo definitely did not look worried in this fight at all.

The other, Okami… and all I can say is wow. Very impressive.

Kongo looked pretty impressive also even though he lost the fight
