UFC 84 - PPV
UFC 84 - May 24, 2008.
Wow are there a lot of fights on this card! There are plenty of good fights as well as some no namers on the cards this time. The main event has Sean Sherk and BJ Penn fighting it out. These 2 have bad blood, so this is going to be one hell of a fight, IMO. I'm even more interested in the Wanderlei Silva vs Keith Jardine fight. That is going to be an interesting battle! Tito Ortiz, Rameau Sokoudjou, and Rich Clementi make this card one worth seeing. Check out the complete UFC 84 Fight Card.
In yet another historic moment in the quest to conquer new territory and bring the best of mixed martial arts to fans around the globe, the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) organization today announced the first-ever UFC event to take place in Minnesota. In the main event, Brock Lesnar, fighting out of his hometown of Minneapolis, will return to the Octagon™ to face UFC Hall of Famer and former PRIDE® superstar Mark "The Hammer" Coleman, and in what many are calling the best lightweight fight of 2008, Kenny "KenFlo" Florian will square off against Roger "El Matador" Huerta in a battle that will move the winner one step closer to a 155-pound title shot. The Ultimate Fighting Championship will present UFC 87: SEEK AND DESTROY, featuring Lesnar vs. Coleman and Florian vs. Huerta, live from Target Center in Minneapolis Saturday, August 9, 2008.
Dave Sholler, UFC - The sports landscape in Seattle, Washington has drastically changed over the past few months. First, reports surfaced that the city's professional basketball franchise was considering a move to Oklahoma City. In search of a new arena for Rookie of the Year Kevin Durant and the Sonics, the owners of Seattle's NBA franchise decided that the coastal port city could no longer harbor basketball hardwood.
Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - For those who look at Lyoto Machida and see a glossy undefeated record, a prime spot on one of the UFC's biggest pay-per-view shows and figure - using the boxing world's mentality - that he has been coddled and eased up the ranks to get here, you would be sadly mistaken.
Dan Cramer, Team Rampage - Last week was the first episode where I got a lot of air time. I think prior to that they showed me sleeping in an upright position directly in front of the camera and stuffing food in my mouth. Ha, that's about it. But since last week the reaction has been good. I think everyone enjoyed the fight, as sloppy as it may have been.
CAUTION: SPOILERS INCLUDED - All the drama is in the Octagon this week on The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs Team Forrest as four fighters attempt to grab two of the remaining spots in the quarterfinals.
Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - As one of the top prospects in mixed martial arts' most high-profile division, light heavyweight Matt Hamill has proven that being deaf isn't a handicap, but instead, a mere obstacle to be overcome on the way to bigger and better things. This was never more evident than in his April 2nd win over Tim Boetsch, in which he took out his highly-regarded foe with strikes in the second round to improve to 6-1 as a pro.
Ant Evans, UFC - The UFC's British talent pool swelled significantly today with the announcement that dynamic welterweight Dan 'The Outlaw' Hardy - widely considered one of the most exciting talents in Europe - has signed with the world's premier mixed martial arts organization.
Dave Sholler, UFC - Christian Wellisch is recovering from one of the most grueling three-round fights of his career. Last July, the heavyweight submission specialist from Sacramento, California battled his toughest opponent to date, one whose power and complexities have swallowed some of the world's finest competitors.

Nogueira and Mir will square off in the Octagon™ for a to-be-announced UFC® pay per view event. UFC® President Dana White will once again serve as the show's host.
Michael DiSanto, UFC - It might not be the main event at UFC 84, but the fight between Wanderlei Silva and Keith Jardine may be the bout with the most intrigue. The 31-year-old Silva has already cemented his place in mixed martial arts history as one of the greatest of all time after his unbelievable five-year reign as the 205-lb champion in PRIDE. He owns knockout wins over reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (twice), Kazushi Sakuraba (three times), Yuki Kondo and Guy Mezger.

I read that Mike Dolce may have thought he was overtrained going into his fight. My bad on that. The thing about Mike Dolce being overtrained is that a lot of those guys came into the show training real hard because they were cast months in advance, and my dumb ass was not aware of that. My whole theory is to not to overtrain guys, just to have them do enough to be ready to fight. Mike Dolce said that he was at his breaking point, but I did not catch it or understand what he was talking about, so we kept pushing him. Had he been more specific or explicit in not wanting to go any further, I would have let up a lot. I made a lot of mistakes with him because I didn't have enough time to get to know him and what he'd respond to in training. I blame myself for that loss. Mike, if you readin' this, I'm sorry man
Jesse fought hard and was an ox in the cage, especially in his comfort zone - on the mat. I should have been able to execute my game plan better, but could not, and paid for that. The opportunity gave me a great reference to pull from in the days and weeks to come in an effort to put myself back into contention, which was my only thought from the second Herb Dean woke me up on the floor of the octagon.
